My Manifesto For My Pre Collection

Pre Collection
My Manifesto - Yeliz Mustafa

My Inspiration and Mood
My Inspiration originally came from a photo shoot in Vogue magazine by Javier Vallhonrat. It reminded me of the Circus because of the way the models have been styled, the scene and mood the photographer has set and the way their makeup has been done.  I translated this photo shoot as ‘Hidden Underneath’ from the emotion it gives off.  I then looked at Transparency and 1950’s underwear for further development to help spark off my own ideas. My collection will show simplicity with a statement of a confident woman in her own skin.
Fabrics and Colour
My colour palette consists of neutral colours with a mix of some deeper for contrast. Nude, Grey, soft pinks and purples.  The mood my collection needs to show is simplicity, softness, transparency and a little sense of sexuality. Therefore my fabric choice needs to present this, so the fabrics I am using are chiffon, and very tight fitting Lycra fabrics for my bodices.
The Ideal Woman
My collection portrays sexuality, comfort in your own skin, confidence in your body and a slight sense of mystery in the woman. She would be around 20 – 32. Any one above that age may give off the wrong interpretational as my collection can look quite explicit if on the wrong customer. She would be a woman that is interested in fashion and keeps up with trends.
Market Level and Competitors
My target market would be woman aged 20 – 30 and someone with a significant interest in fashion and trends. My collection will range from £50 plus and would attract a working woman as she would be able to afford more than a student would. As it is evening wear it would appear to the women that enjoy socialising and going out. My unique selling point would be making my collection something a little more interesting yet not so extravagant so that it can’t be worn. My competitors would be well known and loved stores such as Topshop, Zara and Mango.
Future Plans
When I graduate my main interests lie in putting colours together as I think I have a good eye for it. I’d like to go into either styling or being a buyer.
